Re: J-Madd's Training Log
I decided to show solidarity with all my Canadian brothers and sisters around here and I stuck with my garage, rather than going to the YMCA. It was 5 degrees F when I did this: SSB: 310/5x3 BP: 225/8x3 Pull-Up: BW/8x3 2-H KB Swing: 48KG/20x3 I did 2-H swings because I was having a hard time grippi...

What advice would you give a rank novice?
A younger family member asked me how he could start strength training. He's never trained in a serious way before, although he has played around in the gym so is at least familiar with the various exercises (if not a master of them). He's not going into a tactical profession, rather just looking to ...

Re: 43 Week Tactical Barbell Plan
Just wanted to post a quick update. I've been hitting my circuit class consistently and I can tell that my conditioning is getting better. I'm looking forward to getting back into to max strength training though. I have to admit that my running has simply not been happening. Having snow on the groun...

Re: Movie/Netflix Recommendation Thread
I recently started watching Fauda on Netflix. It follows an Israeli counterterrorism operator in pursuit of a Hamas terrorist. Very compelling.

Re: Omega 3 (Fish Oil) vs. muscle soreness?
I'm pretty religious about taking my fish oil and I make a point of consuming from a high quality source... but I have to admit that I've never noticed any benefits. I keep taking it because the research seems pretty clear that we don't get enough Omega 3s, and so my hope is that its keeping me heal...

Re: Holidays
5. Avoid ridiculous food items . One of my relatives always brings an "appetizer" that consists mostly of salad dressing and cheese. It's difficult for me to rationalize eating something like that. Spend those calories on mom's mashed potatoes, pie+ice cream, good whiskey, etc. Not proces...

Re: 43 Week Tactical Barbell Plan
Quick update. Circuit classes have been on point, but I missed two runs last week. My explanation is that family was in town, but it's no excuse. Anyways, gotta get three runs in this week and I'll be on track.

Re: Winter is coming (indoor conditioning question)
What province? I'm in Ottawa - and so I feel you RE: the outdoor LSS. ;) The bone chilling wind is worse than the ice and snow in my opinion, but I suppose it builds character! I find sprints and intervals are more tolerable then longer runs when using a treadmill. You can also create intense condit...

Re: J-Madd's Training Log
This is a great log. Thanks for sharing. Frankly it inspires & excited me to a) explore all TB has to offer; and b) seek similar results down the road. Can I ask how long you've been training?
