Re: Building up endurance

The big thing for me in basebuilding was slowing down. You gotta go slow. Are you going slow? Nope - still too fast. For some of us it's excruciating. But along with the aerobic base you build, it is a fantastic ego-buster. Nothing makes you laugh at yourself more than getting passed by every sort o...

Re: Movie/Netflix Recommendation Thread

For something slightly fitness related, I recommend the documentary on The Barkley Marathons. It's pretty funny for a documentary about a race.

Re: Anaerobic capacity question

I've successfully done distance-based intervals on road runs using a HR watch and pedometer. Most watches should have something you can program - my dusty old Garmin FR70 can set up an interval program with a warm-up (for time), then a beep for an interval with multiple beeps to let you know when yo...

Aelian, because the heart rate restriction opens up E a bit do you start considering fast 5s/tempo runs as E, or do you keep them as HIC like TF2 classifies them? Or does it transfer from HIC to E as your fitness increases?

I really love pigeon for the hips/thighs. I think it was integral in helping me rehab after a running injury.

Re: Share your favourite stretching routine (post E/SE/Max Strength workout)

What helped the most was the foam rolling and opening up my hips. I literally had tears in my eyes the first time that I foam rolled and used a lacrosse ball. It hurt that much.and that's how many knots I had in my lower body. This seems as good a place as any to ask: have people had a lot of good ...

Re: Home Gym Equipment

Just to add onto the other good suggestions here. Adjustable dumbbells and a DIY t handle from Ross Enamaits home made tools has been handy for me over the years, the t handle is great for swings and it can be loaded up to 100kg depending on pipe length, and for me it saved money as I already had a...

Re: Share your favourite stretching routine (post E/SE/Max Strength workout)

There are a couple yoga videos on YouTube I really like for after a run. Malia Hilliard has a warm up and cool down for running on there, both are only 5-7 minutes. Quick, simple, and they seem to help. Adriene of "yoga with adriene" has dozens of free YouTube yoga routines from 5 minutes ...

Re: Music for training

I found the changing beats in songs would trip up any rhythm I had when I first started running, so I never got into the habit. I also run in a city so it's probably smarter to have ears open anyway. In the gym everyone else these days have their earbuds in, which ironically means I can sing, whistl...
