Green vs Black: HIC

I'm just finishing up my first BB round, and I think I'd like to go for Green/Bangkok. But I know that means HIC takes a back-seat. Is it better to keep it out of rotation until weeks 5-9, or would it hurt that much to put one HIC in every week? I know Black is more geared towards HIC and MS while G...

Re: Favorite Quotes & Excerpts?

My favorite quote from TB is "The carrots ain't making you fat." It really sums up the problem with micro-management and getting lost in the minutiae rather than just getting the show on the road. I think the whole line is "The carrots ain't making you fat. We've all been there. Stop ...

Re: Used a Polar Heart Rate Monitor for First Time

What don't you like about chest straps? Have you used them before and disliked them, or are you assuming you won't like them? I would have thought I'd hate them before using one, but you get used to it very quickly and I've never had any problem with mine once I got the snugness correct.

Re: How do you winnow your SE clusters?

I did cut the DLs starting last night, and things still felt good. I haven't run SE before TB-style, but I've been doing George St. Pierre's silly rushfit videos for a while which are actually quite similar (the biggest difference being they are AMRAP) so the feeling is very familiar. Is the reason ...

How do you winnow your SE clusters?

(This may belong in 101.) I'm doing my first BB and went MS-first. Now that I'm into week six, it's time to switch to SE. Right now I feel like I've got a fairly lengthy SE: push-ups, bulgarian squats, dips, renegade/core row, kb swing, kb deadlift (redundant?) and then burpees to finish. 7 items, a...

Re: Protein bars or powders are your favorite?

Trader Joe's got some decent whey powders, chocolate or vanilla of course. They've got vitamins and other stuff in them so it's more of a general "supplement" than pure protein powder. For only protein, I've really liked Jarrow's whey powder. They have some flavors but I've always just use...

Re: Running technique and injury prevention

I dealt with IT band issues when I started running again last. This may be less frequent with TBers, but I think people forget to stretch and strengthen their running muscles - most tend to do one or the other, but not both. So I've got three parts to my "never have to sit on the couch for six ...

Re: Member Introductions Thread

I've been lurking on the reddit sub (same name) for a while now. New, in week 5 of base building and, frankly, loving it (now that I finally learned to slow down enough). Excited to figure out my first real block and have read both the books a few times now. Not in the tactical community, but that m...
