Re: Technique and Strength in the Martial Arts
Everything being equal than sure it's better to be the stronger man in a fight. Not a particularly bold or innovative stance to take....it's like saying eating less helps you lose weight. I guess I'm looking at it more from a point of view of prioritizing. I don't know that you're going to find too...

Re: Technique and Strength in the Martial Arts
Rip is being a bit narrow-sighted in saying equate for skill and the stronger person will win. That discounts flexibility, endurance, determination, will power, game plan, tactics, intelligence, etc. With that said, I've always had the most trouble with big strong new guys, so i think strength can ...

Re: Technique and Strength in the Martial Arts
Interesting.. Here is Rip: "Strength or technique is the false dichotomy that is presented to us in the Martial Arts. The reality is that they're interdependent. When someone muscles out of your technique, it wasn't necessarily that your technique wasn't good enough, it might just be that they...

Re: Carbs for HIC...Again!!
I watched a documentary on wheat recently. I think wheat wasn’t bad a hundred years ago, but now it’s completely different with little to no nutrition. Sounded like a lot of fluff mixed in with what I have read to be facts, but bottom line is food today is a lot different than in the past. Think ab...

Re: Carbs for HIC...Again!!
Great little clip from JRE, Dr Andy Gilpin talks about why carbs are important for anyone involved in high intensity exercise. I'm doing a little more digging into Gilpin, but so far really liking what this dude is putting out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBNQQmFAIBw He’s talked about this a fe...

Re: Conditioning on Maximum Strength Days
You don’t want it to take away from your strength training. But I agree with WallBilly, if it’s between that and skipping a conditioning day on a regular basis, have at it. Read the thread about the Zulu template. I would look at the Zulu template if you plan on combining strength and conditioning o...

Re: Zulu I/A: lost article
I might give Zulu I/A a try next block. Just to see how it goes. If I do, I will let you know what I think of it.. That’d be greatly appreciated! I have one more block of OWT to run. And I’m thinking of what to do next. Lanmine press did a magic for my shoulder and I feel ready for floor press. Giv...
