Re: J-Madd's Training Log

I'll be on the look out for the paper, and yes always stay sharp!

I agree, I think people should follow a structured strength program as well. Second, the strength program should be paired with some sort of conditioning. I will have to go look back at the Fall ’16 log.

Re: J-Madd's Training Log

If you are on sabbatical, are you working on a book/what are you reading pertaining to your work? I had another philosophy of mind paper that I needed to finish, which I took care of right away. I also have a big lecture I need to prepare on the eternity of the world debate in medieval philosophy a...

Re: J-Madd's Training Log

This is sort of a typical day for me right now: AM: BJJ practice -- moderate day, I ended up doing 6 min rounds x 4 before the other guys had to head off to work. That's been pretty easy, as lately we've been doing mostly 8-10 min rounds getting ready for submission challenge tournament. PM: Weight...

W2D6 SE Alpha 3 x 15 of: - 20kg barbell overhead press - 20kg barbell bent over row - 20kg barbell backsquat - 20kg barbell RDL - sit-ups Rest interval 2mins throughout. Just did reps at 15s since 20s kicked my ass last time. Got through this quite unscathed - lungs get going after high rep squats ...

Re: Leadership reading material

Everyone keeps recommending extreme ownership by Jocko WILLINK. I read his other book, Discipline, and thought it was terrible. I read it in a bit more than an hour and came away pretty underwhelmed. Has anyone read both and can tell me how they compare? I am not interested in a book that tells me ...

Re: Reading List

I just finished The Generals by Thomas E. Ricks. It was an audiobook that covered U.S. Generalship from World War II to Present. Great read on what the standard is for generals, what has went wrong, and a recommendation on how to fix the next generation of generals. I am currently listening to The S...

Re: Sandbag Training

Essentially a nice full body core exercise. Got introduced to it by reading some of Pat McNamara's works, looking forward to giving it a go. I was wondering if someone else in the TB community was aware of Pat McNamara's content. I hope to do some of his core stuff once I get more space. TB actuall...

Re: Equipment you need and don't need

Do both in regards to the weightvest. Just do half rounds in vest and half rounds without. If your work/sport involved any loaded sprinting then it's worth it.It is also fun:). That gives you the best of both worlds and those first couple sprints without the vet will feel like flying. Think of it a...
