Operator LP

Post by DanielGreen6991 »

Hi all, hope everyone’s well.

I’ve been reading the forum recently and noticed that people have recommended doing an LP program before starting with the TB templates to ensure you’re starting with a decent base of strength.

This appeals to me as I need to use OHP in my cluster as the bench in my gym is broken. However, my OHP max is low meaning calculating percentages without fractional plates is awkward.

Can an operator template be used in an LP format? So 3x a week do squat and press for 3-5x5, however instead of using the percentages, I add weight each session.

I wouldn’t be doing this indefinitely, just until I have a good enough base of strength as to where I can actually calculate percentages of my max and not have each session be 1-2kg apart.

Hope it all makes sense, value your feedback.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan, you can do LP with any cluster of lifts you like. Squat and press (plus some pullups and/or deadlifts) will work fine.

There's no reason not to. I would just recommend low incremental increases - 2.5 lb per session a la Greyskull.
