Congrats mate! One of the amazing things of TB it structured so well and so logical you can see your achievements clearly.

Enjoy the break and continue the work. Well done!

That's really great progress. I would add to your list the habits that you made. Establishing new habits is bigger, in the long run, than the more easily measured stuff.

OK after a week long break, basically trying to relax as much as possible, it's back to work.

Monday 13 June 2022: birthday and massage :D
Tuesday 14 June: walk. T = 36:08; HRav = 107; HRmax = 134.
Thursday 16 June: Public holiday in South Africa. Walk: D = 5.01 km; T = 48:56 ; HRav = 115; HRmax = 129.
Saturday 18 June: Walk: T = 37:03; HRav = 212; HRmax = 140

Base building. B1 W1D1 SE(20)
Three rounds (3 min between rounds) of 20 reps (16 kg kettle bell) of:
Swing
knee push-up
Goblet squat
Row (l, r)
Romanian dead lift

I tried moved between exercises when the HR came down a bit. No structured break between exercises, only between rounds.

T = 24:19; HRav = 132; HRmax = 161.

Was really enjoyable.

Base building B1 W1D2 E
3 min walk, 1 min jog, 1 min walk; rest jog.
T = 38:33; HRav = 142; HRmax = 159.

'Gearing' was difficult. HR was high, and talk-test negative, before I noticed. Otherwise nice jog.

Base building B1 W1D3 E
1 min walk, rest jog.

T= 38:38; HRav = 143; HRmax = 157.

'Gearing' went better than yesterday. Was able to slow down on the long (700 m or so) hill. Walked the shorter, steep hills. Despite the shitty weather, this was quite a fun jog.

Great work on your first Base Building block!

OSU from a fellow Kyokushin karateka (I only achieved nikyu myself - shins are too battered for frequent contact anymore so no shodan for me).

Thanks Grouchyjarhead. Kyokushin has a tendency to be painful at times...

Thursday 23 June; 06:23

Base building B1 W1D4 SE(20)

Two rounds of 20 reps (16 kg kettle bell) of:
Swings
knee push ups
Goblet squats
Row(l, r)
Romanian dead lift.

Three minutes between the rounds. Minimal rest between exercises.

T = 13:10; HRav = 118; HRmax = 149.

Pretty easy with only two rounds. I wonder why there are only two rounds, but just following the book :D

Monday 27 June

Basebuilding B1 W2D1 E
Jog of about 6 km. Had a graduation party of a student on Sunday and had way too much wine. Got up late and did the jog in the afternoon to get something done.

Tuesday 28 June

Basebuilding B1 W2D2 SE(30)
Two rounds of 30 reps of:
Swing
knee push-ups
Goblet squats
Row
Romanian Dead lift

Only two rounds due to lack of time.

Friday 01 July

Basebuilding B1 W2D5 E
Jog of about 6 km.

Saturday 02 July

Basebuilding B1 W2D6 E
Jog of 10 km in 1h25

Review of the week:
This was a terrible week. It started with the graduation party which resulted in too much wine. That started the week of the wrong way and I ended up drinking too much during the week. As a result, the scheduling went out of the window. I suppose this was some flexibility in terms of working hours, combined with the emotional stress of looking after my terminal puppy (cancer).

I also found that the HR is elevated after alcohol resulting in walking most of the E sessions. Lesson learned: when the alarm clock goes off, you get out of bed, drink the coffee and get the session done. Also, no more alcohol, as it has the opposite effect of all the E sessions!
