When I'm tempted to "tinker" with the program or to program-hop just because I'm antsy, I think of this quote from TB2:

"...Shut your mind up for a year. A year will go by regardless of what you do. Follow this conditioning protocol consistently for a year. Avoid shopping for new techniques, programs, exercises, and diets for the year. These are all distractions that lead to indecision, paralysis by analysis, and procrastination. Go ahead and see what happens when you commit to something for a year. After the year’s up, and if you still want to – go ahead and return to your previous habits. I have a hunch that won’t be happening."

Black, K.. Tactical Barbell II: Conditioning (Kindle Locations 2547-2550). Zulu23 Group. Kindle Edition.

Great advice, and 2 years into it, I'm still using TB and TB2.

"They are born, put in a box;
they go home to live in a box;
they study by ticking boxes;
they go to what is called “work” in a box, where they sit in their cubicle box;
they drive to the grocery store in a box to buy food in a box;
they talk about thinking “outside the box”;
and when they die they are put in a box."

The name of my log in this forum;

"What is steel, compared to the flesh that wields it?"
-Thulsa Doom

Conan's dad teaches the young barbarian not to trust anything but the sword in your hand, but I liked Doom's "answering the question with a question" answer to the Riddle of Steel better.

Going through this thread, I see a lot of interest in Stoicism. James Bond Stockdale's "Courage Under Fire" is an awesome book about how Stockdale, a navy pilot and legit badass who was shot down and held in the Hanoi Hilton, used the teaching of Epictetus to survive and lead his men. here's an excerpt:

Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; hate less, love more; and all good things are yours.
