Re: After 40 club
Thanks TBP... not in love with more challenging moves (I'm in week 5 now and it's plenty challenging in its totality), but I take your point! When I do basebuilding again in the fall, I'll look to level up some of the easier moves. Yeah, that's why I wrote "the next time through." Best no...

Re: After 40 club
1) You don't need to worry about it from a recovery issue. You might be want to try something more challenging on the other moves next time through.
2) Just use week 7 as a deload, enjoy the time off. You can probably do week 7 on return.

Re: Struggling to do pull-ips
I have a decent garage gym set up, with squat rack, dumbbells, Olympic plates and bars with a pulley system which attaches to the rack. The rack also allows me to do dips and chins. In my opinion it is hard on the body to be doing close to a rep max with low reps (up to 5 reps). That is, with ANY e...

Are you training at home or in a decently equipped gym?

Re: Shasta's Marine Corps OCS Training Log
I was unclear on how strictly I should adhere to TB's BB template. Right now you are not in a base building situation. If your test was a long ways off then of course you should adhere strictly, but BB might not have been the ideal choice this close to a test. But you don't want to change too much ...

Re: Shasta's Marine Corps OCS Training Log
A couple general comments. On any physical attribute (speed, strength, endurance) you can only make fast gains if you are far off your current potential. Also you want to go into any test fresh, not run down. What these mean are that if you have a test in nine weeks, that last week should not be ha...

Re: Shasta's Marine Corps OCS Training Log
I was having some doubts today about if I am training in the best way possible. My OCS applicant buddy told me on monday that we only have 9 weeks till we take our PFT that will be evaluated by the board and that just put everything into perspective for me. I'm worried that I'm not training my hard...

Re: Shasta's Marine Corps OCS Training Log
Jogged/walked to stay within the HR zone. Should I try jogging slowly as much as possible while trying to stay in the HR zone or should I work on proper running form and lengthening my stride and then walking when my HR gets too high? Right now getting your form right so that you can productively a...
