Re: Over 50’s Club

In for this one. 51 now and starting Operator again.

Starting Strength keeps hitting me with injury setbacks as the weights start climbing. I think I've still got the enthusiasm to add more weight and go for the 3x5, but maybe the ability and recovery aren't what they were!

Re: Kettlebells for MS

I was thinking about this yesterday, and happened to find this thread, since I'm coming up to a month or so when I'll have to workout at home instead of visiting the gym. I was thinking of treating the one arm kettlebell press in the same way as bodyweight pullups, performing a percentage of my max ...

Re: Ageless Athlete - Available NOW!

Had the Kindle version for about a week now. Only had the chance to skim read it but there's already a lot of motivation in there. Convinced me to switch to Operator I/A even though my lifts are very much at novice level. Scheduling has been an issue for me but now I'm just going to try to make sure...

Re: Training consecutive days

A quick update.

Just got J-Madd's Ageless Athlete and its convinced me to take an Operator I/A approach. So, when possible, I'll do Sunday - Tuesday - Thursday. If not, Monday - Thursday. Maybe Saturday if its possible, and just try to keep 1-2 days between strength sessions.

Thanks J-Madd.

Re: Training consecutive days

Thanks for all the input here. One of my biggest problems is I tend to overthink things and I can see I'm doing this now.

Here's what I've come up with now:

Weeks I can workout on a Sunday I do Operator on Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday

Weeks I can't workout on a Sunday I do Fighter on Monday/Thursday.

Re: Training consecutive days

Andy, how old are you and do you normally have any recovery issues? Also are you LEO/Military or 1st Responder? If so, what kind? This isn't optimal and I DON'T recommend it for everyone - but go ahead and do Op on Mon-Tues with the following caveats: - Work in 6 week blocks. Take a rest week every...

Re: Training consecutive days

I will be 47 in a month. And my family is relatively young with 7m twins. So, I hear you. Now.. have you thought about OP I/A from TB Conditioning book with A-B-A template? Example listed in the book looks like: Day 1: SQ/BP (A) Day 3: DL/OHP (B) Day 5: SQ/BP (A) I'm not saying it should work for y...

Re: Training consecutive days

Thanks for the reply. I'm a 44 year old with a young family, prioritizing strength as I'm feeling the effects of getting older! So weekends are often busy and my wife works on a Wednesday night so I can't get to the gym. Monday, Tuesday & Thursday are the nights I can almost guarantee being able...

Training consecutive days

Hi all, looking for a little bit of advice. I've just started running Operator template as a novice with squat, bench and deadlift. I'm working out Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday but I know there are going to be weeks where I'm not going to be able to workout on Sundays. So I'm planning to try Monday,...

Re: After 40 club

Andy while you don't desperately need to do any lift, I would let discouragement guide you. There are quite a number of guys older than you that I've seen go from zero chinups to doing chinups with weight. If you can only do 2 now, maybe try doing just one whenever you get the chance, like between ...
