Re: Operator + Black review

As someone coming from the sports/S&C coaching side of things, I'll add my .02. Bear in mind I have no military or policing experience. Training in professional/competitive sports and activities leans more towards "building". On the other hand, my (limited) experience with many "...

Re: Poliquin: Kettlebell Swings Are Bad For You

I think that context is critical here and the context to consider here is that Charles is talking about moving maximal weight, as well as the displacement of the weight away from the body. He doesn't specifically elaborate on the how and the why the kettle bell swing is dangerous in his words "...

Re: Poliquin: Kettlebell Swings Are Bad For You

I would say that how you. do the kettlebell swing barbell deadlift bend down to tie your shoelace can eventually cause you problems . The key is proper training and common sends No doubt, but it isn't a question of form. Charles isn't saying swings with bad form are bad for you, he's saying swings ...

Re: Poliquin: Kettlebell Swings Are Bad For You

People can get hurt from any exercise as long as they are doing it wrong, or progressing too fast, or something unexpected happens. The only exercise I avoid because of injury potential is behind the neck press. This isn't a question of form. Poliquin isn't saying swings with bad form are bad for y...

Re: Base Building Options

Cheers for the heads up. I tried to search for anyone doing similar and must have missed that log. I thought about adding sets of pushups. I was thinking something like the following. 5 Pull ups 5-10 Push ups 10 Swings Repeat for 10 rounds. I don't know if it's really necessary, but I may consider ...

Re: What were your starting numbers?

I notice a lot of people lifting much more than me in the deadlift and squat and wonder how long they spent working up to those numbers - whether I'm just really weak at these lifts or it's just a symptom of never training them before. What numbers did you start out at when you begun seriously trai...

Poliquin: Kettlebell Swings Are Bad For You

So I just came across an interesting Tim Ferris podcast. His guest is Charles Poliquin. About 2hrs and 3 mins in, he talks about kettlebell swings being dangerous for the back, and that they can potentially cause back problems which may not surface right away. Poliquin has a good reputation, but I'm...

Re: DUP

As anyone ever tried DUP? http://www.theptdc.com/2014/06/build-better-personal-training-programs/ As seen in the article I can see for operator that instead of doing a week at 70, a week at 80 and a week at 90 someone would do 1 day at 70 one day at 80 and one day at 90 and repeat. It would be less...

Re: First Foot-Pursuit Post TB

Nice...! Was doing some training with the team last week and took turns rotating positions in the stack. I hate breaching but took my turn to get some practice (in case the designated breachers aren't around). Normally takes me more than a few hits. This time I smashed it in 3-4 strokes and didn't h...
