Re: Suggestions for my goals? Am I asking for too much?
I was planning on using a hybrid cluster utilizing front squats and SLDL to aid in recovery as back squats and traditional deadlifts may be too taxing for what I want. Ideally what I would like to do is something similar to below: Monday - FS/OHP/Pullup Tuesday - E/BJJ Wednesday - SLDL/BP/Row + Sho...

Re: Suggestions for my goals? Am I asking for too much?
Those are solid lift goals for your body weight. Doable depending on your height. But I would be cautious of the total volume of work you’re doing. Are you saying E or BJJ or both? A lot depends on the BJJ classes you are in. When I was competing in no-gi submission grappling I trained at a martial...

Re: Dropping the Deadlift
I figure I would add an anecdotal example. Just recently I got back to strength training after a hiatus, but roughly 6 years ago I was an avid gym rat. I worked in a gym, I worked in a supplement store, and every waking moment was spent wanting to go to the gym. My lifts weren't considered phenomena...

Re: JudoRob's Training Log
Yesterday wasn't the best session. I didn't realize that it's been roughly a week since my last rest day, and I was operating on little sleep, so I just couldn't get it done, and by couldn't get it done I mean my 60 min E ended up being 30 min, and a speed I'm normally comfortable with felt like pul...

Re: JudoRob's Training Log
I've been a little lagging in updating the journal, but I'm proud to say that BaseBuilding has officially been completed. Resting heart rate has gone from 85-88 to a base heart rate of 64 as measured by the Doctor last week. Today mark's the completion of the first day of my current continuation pro...

Re: Suggestions for my goals? Am I asking for too much?
I think your goals are reasonable at your age. My suggestion: think about cutting out the things u do not need to give you the recovery resources. Basis your goals, I would drop HIC completely (your BJJ sessions will give you the sport specific conditioning), and cut E down to 1x per week. Do E wor...

Suggestions for my goals? Am I asking for too much?
Hey everyone! I'm successfully finished basebuilding, and I'm thrilled with the results. Resting HR has dropped from 85-88, to 64 as measured by my doctor last week, so solid progress I'd say? Anyway, my Fiancee is starting to lift 4-5x a week, I'm wanting to gain strength across a few lifts, develo...

Re: JudoRob's Training Log
40 M E in the books and one week of basebuilding left.
I’m definitely feeling it!

Re: How much fatigue is expected in Week 7 of Basebuilding?
@ Rob I'd say that the main thing to keep in mind is that in the books he says (more than once), basically, if you think you need to back off, do so. Stick to the minimums for your E, do the 'for babies' versions of the HICs, use a 90% of your 1RM for strength training, etc. It's fine. If you feel ...

Re: JudoRob's Training Log
My ankle was feeling a little rough, so HIC was done on the rower yesterday. Indoor Power Intervals x 5 completed with a bit of struggle. As I start to near the end of my basebuilding cycle I'm looking to alter my long-term plan and have a few options in the works, but to avoid being in the Gym 6 da...
