Once upon a time I was in excellent shape. Now I consider myself so-so or even below average if I use my o...

Re: Paralysis by Analysis (AKA, what should I do?)

There are two kinds of people: 1) people that have internalised the principles laid out in the books to such an extent that they can be creative and devise their own program 2) people that like the mentality and principles laid out in the books, but want to be told more or less exactly what to do I...

Re: Green protocol/ 40 mpw running

So I am working on getting my mileage up to 30 mpw on 4 days running per week. So what I am wondering is if followin...

Re: Fun Run ideas?

Outdoor: Pistol Squat x 3/leg OAP x 3/arm ....and 5 x pull-ups when I pass suitable branches/playground depending on route Really liking the combo of high tension cals + easy steady state Indoor Instead of sticking to just one or two exercises I've been cycling through a KB circuit: Swings x 10 Run...

Re: Heart rate/base for the more muscular athlete

Good info here, thanks everyone. In the end I guess it depends where your priorities lay, not getting caught up in the numbers and then just doing it. I don't have all the answers, but I would guess it depends on what your personal max aerobic heartrate is. Refer to #2 in KB's post. So maybe that h...

Re: Heart rate/base for the more muscular athlete

Equafi, there was an awesome thread about HR here: http://tacticalbarbell.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=111&start=20 Here's a post by KB in the thread that diminished some of my ocd about it. #2 probably most applies to your question: The heartrate guidelines are just that, guidelines. I've ...

Re: Pavel's anti-glycolytic training

How does he explain the original Tabata study then? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8897392 5 days a week for 6 weeks 7-8 sets of 20 second high intensity intervals at 170% of VO2 Max (pretty fkn' high intensity!) VO2 max, aerobic and anaerobic capacity ALL increased significantly. I'm not seein...
