As a mid 40s desk jockey, squatting and deadlifting in the same workout does not work for me (lower back). replacing squats with DL on wednesdays is a great option. I'm currently experimenting with deadlifting on Saturdays along with sandbag carries, farmers walk, kb suitcase carries, and pinch grip...

I originally started my sandbag training years ago using army duffel bags - it is a great way to start and only cost $20 plus contractor bags for the interior (reduce sand dust). However as the weights of the bag got heavier, the seams woudl eventually split so either I would have to double bag or ...

I have both the rogue strongman sandbag 100lb and the ironmind sandbag (150lb pea gravel and 200lb sand) All 3 bags are great tools for odd object training. If you are deadlifting 500lb then the 100 lb will be too light - great for conditioning my max DL is 315 so the rogue 100 lb bag is fine. it is...

I work out at 7:30 am and tend to need more warmup for squats. Thus I bench first and during my 2-3 min rest periods, I do dynamic stretching for squats - high knee raises, lunges, band work. i do the same as tym87 - saves me time since i usually need 3-5 min of rest when i squat

2:00 rest

thanks for the replies! i will continue to do them after strength days and on conditioning days focus on runs and HIC (alot of good examples in TB2). heavy sled and carries have a large strength compenent to them... so i guess in order to limit strength training to 4 days a week i will keep my routi...
