Re: Week-to-Week Fighter Progression

Choosing Fighter assumes maximal-strength is a lower priority domain. There is no reason for most athletes that fall in this category to lift above 90%RM. I haven't run Fighter in a while and don't have my book in front of me, but doesn't Fighter Bangkok go up to 95%? Or maybe I'm just confusing it...

Re: Are SE Circuits Anaerobic?

After (roughly) 2 minutes of continuous activity the aerobic system starts taking over. There's still contribution from the anaerobic system but it's mostly aerobic overall (discounting the muscular-endurance aspect of course). You may not be getting optimal ventricle-hypertrophy specific to LISS, b...

Re: GtG while in BB?

Totally fine. Strength-endurance thrives on fatigue, pre-fatigue and numbers... so go for it. Just remember to shift gears when you hit Continuation.

Book Recommendation: The Mindful Athlete

Read this book over the weekend, by a fellow named George Mumford. Mumford was brought in by Chicago Bulls "Zen Master" coach Phil Jackson to brush up the team's mental game. For those of you that don't follow NBA, Jackson was notorious for teaching Micheal Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and the tea...

Re: Tests to see progression

The 1.5 mile is a good test of overall cardiac conditioning. It's aerobic, plus tests your speed and lactic threshold tolerance. That plus a longer run for time (6 mile, 5k, 10k) will usually give you a good indication. Resting heart rate is another easy metric.

Re: Training around a foot injury

Can you deadlift? If I were in your shoes I'd go a little off the beaten path, try something like Operator template with DL + BP (or OHP) followed by an Alpha circuit pull-up finisher. Every week progress the pull-ups by 10 as per the template. If you want to be adventurous cycle from Alpha to Brav...

Re: GC2 for SE?

Hello Everyone, Has anybody tried GC2 and thought about using it as a SE session? Its similar to a PT pyramid with Burpees, Squat Jumps, Push Ups, for reps of 10, 9, 8, to 1 etc... I am wondering what other peoples thoughts are on using it as such? Perhaps one could switch out the exercises if they...

One of Grouchy's older posts on GoRuck prep:

I've been using the card idea for some of my indoor GC sessions, works well.
