Time off Between Phases

Post by BigMac »

Hey guys/gals,

Just finished my first base building block and made some tremendous improvements in the cardio and bodyweight endurance department. Quick question...next Friday I'm leaving town for a week. I'm not sure what kind of training facilities I'm going to have. I finished Base on Wednesday and my plan was to take a week off and then start continuation (Black/Operator). Now it looks I'll be forced to take an extra (2nd) week off.

Should I do some sort of training this week to compensate for my next week out of town? Or should I just take the hit and take a full two weeks off? Is this going to interfere with continuation, or being able to complete the HICs?

I dont' expect that this will be a very big issue either way. If I were were you, I would take the first week off, and then maybe do a couple GC or grip/core workouts or maybe something like Tango SE circuits the second week. That way you keep some of the juices flowing, but not have to stress out about finding a gym -- you can alway just to calisthenics for these types of work outs, so finding a gym won't be a problem. Just keep it to a couple workouts, and don't beat yourself up. You will come back to start your continuation phase limber and hungry for more work. You trip is actually well-timed; better to travel between phases than right in the middle of a block. Have a safe trip!

I second J-MADD. The beauty of unexpected breaks is that it is nature of life. Perfect time to go with the flow. You will return to the training stronger than you were before. I'd just do nothing if I was in your shoes. Do some stretching, mobility drills and walks. And eat plenty :D
