Operator I/A (which folks in this thread are using) uses lower intensities than Operator, also those using Op I/A are probably using a training max. You are right though - doing actual 90% and 95% work 3x a week isn't something one can do very long. In my case, not at all!H.C. wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 12:28 pm Just finished my first 6 week cycle of Operator. 90% and 95% definitely felt heavy even though the bar speeds are good. For me long term, i would not do 90% and 95%. I would keep it 75-80-85 or 70-75-80-85.
I am no powerlifter and have no experience with Sheiko programming, but he keeps his athletes averaging about 70% + a little bit. He cautions against doing 90%+ regularly.

I use a training max, but i find the 90% week the easiest generally. I have always been strong in the 1-3 rep range and it feels nice to get in and out quickly. Repeatedd sets of 5+ are the hard part for me.TBPenguin wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:27 pmOperator I/A (which folks in this thread are using) uses lower intensities than Operator, also those using Op I/A are probably using a training max. Been running TB for several years now. I love playing around with the numbersTBPenguin wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:27 pmOperator I/A (which folks in this thread are using) uses lower intensities than Operator, also those using Op I/A are probably using a training max. Anyway, if you do the calculations, in month 1 if you do 75-80-85, next month if you increase 5% of your training max, it would be close to actual 80-85-90, and so on...
Month 1: 75-80-85
Month 2: 80-85-90
Month 3: 85-90-95
Month 4: 90-95-100 new 1rm but 3 reps
My point is, you would eventually hit the 90% and beyond, but because you waited longer for your strength to catch up instead of hitting it in week 3, you would be able to do it easier and beyond
Also the smaller 5% steps week to week is more sustainable long term than 10% steps
