Older lifters and Mass Protocol.

Hey everyone. First time poster. I have all the books and love them. I wish I had these when I first started lifting and I would have saved a lot of wasted time and injuries. On to my question!
I read often that "older lifters" are sensitive to volume. The templates in Mass Protocol are high frequency and high volume. At 41 do you feel this is too much volume? If you think there is too much volume is there an alternative way to program OMS?
I love the idea of OMS however if it is not advised for someone older to use that much volume in mass I was thinking about doing 12 weeks of Operator with 4 or 5 sets and going right into specificity.
I was also thinking about keeping GM short, perhaps 3 weeks. Skip Mass, shorten Mass? Doesn't matter? What do you think? I'm I overthinking this or am I on the right track?
Thanks.

Ability to tolerate volume comes down to your previous training history, nutrition, sleep and recovery.
If you have this squared away and pick appropriate weights for your lifts you should be fine.
The other option would be to do OMS and pick a mass template with lower volume for your first run through. You can pick higher volume templates as your body adjusts.
It all comes down to what your goals are. My favourite mass template is actually the lowest volume one in the book.

Thanks. My TB training history has been Operator. The only other template I've tried was six weeks of Gray Man. I liked it. I'll go for it and see how I react.

Another option is OP I/A and push the volume of your lifts.
If you have the new mass book you could consider the fighter mass template for a cycle or two

Hey Hothrebel, you are not an older lifter. At 41 they are not too much volume. If they meet your goals, do them.

Thanks for the link and the answers. That is exactly what I was looking for. Society tells you at 40 you are "older" and you have to automatically be in a generalized category and have to follow a certain set of parameters deemed appropriate. I don't feel old, in fact I feel healthier now than I did in my 20's. There are plenty of people in their 20's and 30's that get tired walking up a hill and can't lift a bag of mulch off the ground.
Since I like WPU so much I'll run General Mass after operator and see where we go. If it is too much, you have Fighter HT as advised. I threw too much into my S clusters in Gray Man, which is why I started questioning volume.
Thanks again.
