HIC #1-10, home training

Hello,
I need some input on some homeversions of HIC’s #1-10. Because of weather/icy roads,m an dlife in general I won’t be getting to the gym enough next week for my HIC’s. All I have st home is a jump rope..

I’m thinking:
- Burpee resets instead of 600M resets: 1 minute burpees and 3-5 min rest
- Connaught range: sub sprints for 20 double unders or running in place when technique on DU’s start to break down
- JR power intervals, running in place or double unders for 2 minutes, full speed

Will these work outs give the same effect as the original ones (thinking of effect on the aerobic/anaerobic systems)?
Anyone have any other suggestions?

I would say no, but skipping would be closest of your options.

Do you have any form of indoor cardio at your house? Exercise bike, rower etc?

As much as some people try to say you can, you just can’t replace actual running with other exercises and achieve the same results for your aerobic system. Anaerobic is a bit more doable, but burpees aren’t really an effective alternative to running.

I have had success using step ups in place of pack marching in the past. That would probably be my best recommendation for an indoor aerobic alternative. It’s not perfect but adding some weight and aiming to maintain that 120bpm + pace would be good indoor option. Fob it intervals might do the job, but I only have experience doing step ups for numbers e.g 1000 step ups for time.

No, unfortunatly the jump rope is the only cardio equipment.. the roads are so icy and wet that the break length with my patrol car was 35 meters when driving in 40 km/h, so running is definetly not an option. Maybe the stepups then, or fill up the ruck and walk up and down the stairs to the second floor. Thank you!

(The next time I do a base building block, I will look at the calendar first.. starting in the winter months, with limited time to go to the gym, wasn’t that smart)

Yeah basebuilding with no gym access in winter can be hit and miss in certain places. I usually try and do mine in the summer.

I am about to do basebuilding myself, but I have to contend with the bush fires here in Australia. I will be doing it, but I wish I had kept that gym membership I cancelled over winter.

Well, that puts thing in perspective I guess: I’ll rather jumo rope or run on icy roads than having to deal with enourmous fires.. good luck!
