Excellent article, check it out: http://strengtheory.com/how-to-deadlift

Finally some science to back up my belief that trap bar deads are awesome.

Nice article.

He also says basically "unless you are a competition powerlifter, feel free to use straps as much as you want."

And

"unless you are a competition powerlifter, feel free to pull from the blocks".

Also

"In short, the differences between the two lifts are much smaller than often assumed.
Powerlifters should train with a straight bar. For non-powerlifters, it’s primarily a matter of personal preference. However, since the trap bar deadlift tends to be easier to learn and tends to allow for higher peak force, power, and velocity with any given load, trap bar deadlifts are probably slightly better than straight bar deadlifts for most non-powerlifters."

Geezus! Who the hell has the time to read all this :) And here I thought it was simply picking up a heavy object and putting it back down again.

And you are right. The trick is make it right for yourself :D

Basically, the article says: don't worry too much, choose what works for you, master the basic form, don't be too stupid and enjoy the ride :D

Ha! Well played!

I came to cut & paste one of my favorite quotes from the thread of the same name:

“Teaching people a large number of sword techniques is turning the way into a business of selling goods, making beginners believe that there is something profound in their training by impressing them with a variety of techniques.”

Musashi

All kidding aside, it is a pretty thorough article.

Would recommend the starting strength book for anyone looking to learn form in depth and prevent injuries -> Covers everything in massive detail.
