Conditioning While Recovering From Injury

Hey Guys,
A quick disclaimer - I am not looking for medical advice, I am looking for your opinions and experience with training around injuries.
My physiotherapist thinks I have a stress fracture in my one shin (apparently the little pain I kept running through wasn't so little). I'm off running for at least a month but probably "a few". I am not pleased with this but will do what's necessary to heal fully.
This being said, I want to stay in shape and modify my workouts as needed. I love TB and in the past 1.5 years I haven't been able to go without it. It looks like my main conditioning alternatives are: cycling, swimming, and aquajogging. What have you done/what works best to stay in shape most relevant to running?

What about rowing? I love to row for HIC (5 rounds of 2 minutes on, 2 minutes off), but it works great for LSS too. It's a wonderful full-body workout.

My physiotherapist said I could row (starting in a week or so) for up to 30 mins a day. The only problem with that is that I don't have a gym membership - I have a barbell at home that I do all my weights with and then my conditioning is always running outside

Maybe you could spring for a membership during your recovery? Since you have a barbell at home you could probably make do at any cheap chain gym like Planet Fitness. Rec centers and community colleges often have cheap membership options too.

I will look into it - thanks! Unfortunately my town has only one gym (which I've heard is really sketchy with old and broken down equipment but the fees are $60+/month), so I will need to see if I am able to do rows there

Hi NoLimits,
Have you considered shadow boxing and/or heavy bag?
Strap a heart rate monitor on and you can do both LSS and HIC with very little impact on your legs.
Maybe even put together triples (for E) with shadowboxing/rowing. Depending on what equipment you have available you could get more intense using Fobbits with rowing machine + heavy bag.

Those are great suggestions - thanks! I don't have a heavy bag at home but there's one at work I can use. That'll definitely be useful for HIC, and like you said, I can modify it for LSS
