Quicken Sit-Up Pace

posted this on reddit...thought i would cross-post here too.

Any tips or suggestions for quickening my sit-up pace, either via training method or technique?

I'd like to get to near max PFT points on the sit-ups, which is 58 is 1 minute. My current best is 45 in 1 minute.

I'm thinking about doing the grease-the-groove style training with 30 second sets, shooting for a goal of 30 sit-ups in that time. I would do this 2-3x/day, 3-5 days/week.

Technique-wise, I'm trying to come up as fast as possible and then throw myself down, while trying to use gravity mostly on the way down.

I'm "borrowing" the idea from stew smith ala:

I thought I did something like this in the past, where I was doing 30 second rounds just really practicing getting my pace to 30 reps for 30 seconds and it seemed to help. But I don't remember exactly if that's what facilitated my success.
