Strength training during BB

Hi everyone,

I have a question, recently I read both TB1 and TB2.
Now I want to start Base Building to get my conditioning up because I'll be taking up boxing
lessons 2-3 times a week after BB.

When I start boxing I will
get my conditioning through boxing training and a long endurance run of an hour once a week.

On top of that I want to start the fighter strength template.

I'm 18 years old and male.

->How should I approach this if I do not yet have my 1rm numbers and in week 6 of Base Building the max strength sessions begin?

->So should I test my 1rm before starting BB?
->Or should I skip these strength sessions and just begin fighter template after BB?

My concern is I will have lost strength in the first five weeks of BB so I will be working with 1rm's that are too heavy...

Thanks,
Raf

Hi Raf. Welcome to the forum.

What kind of strength training background do you have? Do you know your current 1RMs, have you ever used a linear program etc

I have already done a hyperthrophy and strength linear program for 6 months. I do have an estimate for my 1rm's but they could be off as much as 10 kg, I have never actually tested them.

The 1RMs aren't important during Base. The last couple weeks are meant to get you used to lifting again, break you in a little. Your 1RMs will become important just before Continuation.

During Base just use a very conservative guesstimate, around 80%-90% of what you think your current maximums are. After Base take a few days off and retest for real prior to Continuation. Another thing, you're not going to lose as much strength as you think, if you browse the forums and reddit, you'll see most users don't see a change in their 1rms, or it's a very small change that bounces back after 2 or 3 workouts. The first weight workout back might seem hard, but that'll pass quickly.

Okay thank you very much I'll work with this!

How did your linear progression program end? One stall and you're moving on? Got bored and want to do something else? After several resets, micro loading and calorie increases and you're now a legit intermediate?
Height, weight and lifts? 5rm or whatever you have for the big lifts?
