Today's Second Session

30 Min LSD Run/ Walk with calf stretches

ROMWOD(Long)

Went for my second run for basebuilding and things didn't go well. I had a sharp pain in my ankle within 5 mins. I decided to run/walk and stretch to build up to running again. I think my ankles are just copping a hiding from BJJ to be honest. If I keep having issues I will sub in stationary bike/swimming or similar. The alternative is to change to fighter and just use BJJ as my only form of conditioning.

Today's Training

Warmup 3 rounds
5x KB Goblet Squat 16kg
5x Kb Haloes 16kg
5x 1 leg glute bridge ea side

Kettlebell Swings 24kg
10 L, 10R x3, 10 2H x2 Total= 80 reps

Turkish Getups 24 kg
5x1 ea side ( 3 Rounds Back to back, short rest then last 2)

Feeling pretty wrecked from yesterday and decided just to get the S&S work in. I think I may drop pullups for a bit as I haven't rotated them out in a long, long time. I get a lot of pulling from BJJ also.

I plan to do another ROMWOD session this arvo and see how the body feels. Probably no BJJ tonight due to an early start tomorrow. I also would like to make the no gi session tomorrow night at BJJ for some fun:)

Not sure if this will remain basebuilding or if I will just use S&S along with BJJ for a bit of a break. I have a 20 day training holiday planned for next month and need to stay as healthy as possible to be able to get on the mats 2x a day.

Today's Training

Bjj No Gi Evening Session

Working on:
Double Leg takedowns
Kimura from closed guard(Hip out and shoulder to mat)

10x5 mins rolling (Atleast)

I had some excellent rolls today and was on the mat for every round available. I did a lot of tapping but hit some good sweeps and escaped some positions I have been working on the last couple weeks.

Still prefer No Gi over Gi, but my game improves so much more from the Gi. A good solid 2 hour session was great to complete tonight.

I think the gi slows you down and forces you to learn a little more vs no-gi where you can just scramble until you get to a good position if you're in good shape.

Today's Training

Warmup 3 rounds
5x Goblet Squat 16kg KB
5x KB Haloes 16kg
5x 1 Leg glute Bridge ea side(Minor pain top of left knee)

24kg Kettle bell swing

10x10 2H swings

Turkish Getups 16kg
5x1 ea side

ROMWOD (Short)

I was feeling pretty wrecked from BJJ and work the other day. I am feeling a bit of a cold that I can't quite kick. Nice easy session just to get some volume in followed buy some mobility /stretching work.

If all is well I plan on doing BJJ tomorrow, but may skip or limit my rolling rounds before work.

Yeah it does a bit, but I generally find that people will grab a grip and refuse to let go in some awkward positions. Yes they stop me, but I just attempt to break the grip or wear out their arms. This is what would happen in a self defence situation so it is definitely good.

I prefer No Gi but the Gi is definitely growing on me.
