This morning:
KB Swings: 48KG x 50 (continuous)
Tonight I'll train BJJ.
I saw a video suggesting doing 50 swings/day with a heavy KB for a couple weeks. That idea intrigued me!

Re: J-Madd's Training Log
Nice! I am about half way through my base building block. When it comes to continuation, I am toying between Fighter/Black or Op/Black or Fighter/Green. I have been doing a lot of running in BB trying to prep for a 5 mile run in July in downtown Boston.J-Madd wrote:I'm toying around with itnickgoldma wrote:You going to be rocking the minimalist cluster?J-Madd wrote:
Today I went to a morning BJJ class. Pretty standard class, followed by three 6 minute rounds of rolling. I felt a pretty energetic later, so I did this:
A1: Ring Dips - 3x10
A2: Pistol Squats - 3x3 (per leg)
B1: Ring Pull-Ups - 3x10
B2: Knuckle Pushups - 3x25
C: Two Hand KB Swing - 48KG x 50 (non-stop)
Next time I'll throw a weight vest on, and cut those reps to 5's for the rings.
By the way, got any good tips on how to progress with the one legged squat? I can't do it or even attempt it without holding onto something which is probably the best way.
Get after it!

Love it!
Re: J-Madd's Training Log
Hey folks! I'm sorry I haven't been terrible active hear lately, but professional commitment (the old "day job"), family, and my all-encompassing BJJ obsession (I got my blue belt last month!) have been very jealous lately.
I've been playing around some some new approaches for a few months, in an attempt to puzzle out to train off the mat when I'm rolling x5/week. I basically now alternate between 6-week max strength blocks (basically Fighter) and six-weeks of SE or metabolic circuits (think somewhat heavier weights done in higher intensity circuit). Right now I'm in the middle of the latter. Here's what my week has looked like so far:
Sunday: Light BJJ drilling, 90 trail ride on my bike
Monday: BJJ practice (100 armbars for the warm-up), 7min matches x 5
Tuesday: Pretty easy BJJ practice (100 armor for the warm-up), 7min matches x 2, I then did 200 continuous KB snatches (35) and 100 push-ups
Wednesday: BJJ practice (100 armbars for the warm-up), 7min matches x 5
Thursday: BJJ practice, 7min matches x 5, later while hanging out at my kids soccer practice I did 50yd sprints x 15 (10 sec rests)

Congratulations on earning your blue belt! No small accomplishment. It looks like your BJJ dedication is paying off.
