TK's log

Hi, I am TK. Thank you all for having me here.
I am 19, 5'6", 165 lb.
I am a hobbyist boxer, I do not plan on competing but I am just working on improving my boxing skills. I enjoy strength and hypertrophy training as well.
I am currently in Week 7 of Base Building, using Fighter for max strength. My cluster is squat and OHP. Squat 1RM is 290 pounds, and OHP 1RM is 115 pounds. I did the 5x5 @ 80% workout yesterday and will do it again tomorrow if I feel good to go.
Due to covid, I have not been getting much boxing training in, so I am spending that extra energy doing more isolation exercises in the gym instead.
I hope to update this log regularly as I improve my strength, conditioning, and fighting skills.
Thank you again.

Yesterday's workout: Fighter 5x5 @ 80%
Squats were done with 210 lb and OHP was done with 85 lb.
A fellow gym goer asked to work in with me at my rack and apparently it was her birthday. She hit a squat PR with 145 lb x 1.
On my squats, I tried to be explosive and I envisioned myself shooting through the roof.
I'm still struggling with squat descent. I'm worried about going too fast down and losing control. Also depth is of importance to me, so I try to bump the safety pins on every rep to ensure that I am going as deep as I can.
OHP was fine. I'm trying to not arch my lower back on it.

I think I will postpone my second Fighter session for tomorrow as I am weirdly sore today in my glutes and quads.
I usually do multiple workouts on the same day due to schedule reasons anyway. I can probably knock out Max strength, HIC, and E tomorrow.
I seem to be getting sore a lot more lately. Any recommendations for preventing this?
Also, it is my opinion that 5x5s at 80-85% are the hardest TB strength sessions. You don't breeze through them like 70-75%, but the sets arent as brief as 90-95%.

The weights on Fighter 80% week moved really smoothly today! It's always a good feeling when every rep of squats is consistent and you get through the set with no grinding. I'm very happy about that. I watched clarence kennedy videos to get excited about squatting beforehand. OHP was flying as well.

BB Week 7: Neck training session
Basically, I lie down on the floor and hold my head just above floor level, and i turn my head side to side at a steady tempo. I am not to rest my head on the floor for the length of the set. I have short hair so if my hair is just grazing the floor, I know that's the appropiate head level.
I haven't done neck exercises in a while so I just did a single 3 minute set today. Gonna gradually increase volume on that.
I'm off for a 30 minute E run now, and HIC if I have time afterwards.

BB Week 7: E x 30 M + HIC #10
Just finished a 30 minute E session. Very easy LSS jog. When I do LSS runs I will sometimes run backwards to help prevent knee pain (the kneesovertoes guy stuff), and sometimes i will pause to do some light shadowboxing. Preferably when no one's looking.
After my E, i walked for a bit to reset my heart rate and did HIC #10: Short Hills. I do these on a long flight of stairs. Killer on the quads.
Hope everyone's doing well.
