31 days straight of at 30 mins walking today.
Re: Member Introductions Thread
Nice mate. I use it as my active recovery/cooldown after a run/training session.Trip wrote:31 days straight of at 30 mins walking today.
I also do a longer walk on my recovery day. I used to do a second walk each day with my dog but I just had to put him down.
Walking is probably my favourite thing to do right now.

Hello everybody,
I am 34 years old, married, father of a 3 years old boy - second one en route (due April 2019 ). My job is mostly sedentary but not strictly desk-bound ( MD - fellowship in trauma surgery ). I have been a long - time Martial Arts Nerd which is what made me interested in Training in the first place.
My "fitness career" has been all over the place:
Played a bit of soccer in my teens then started swimming in University (just for myself though, not in any team) up to 3x 1h each per week. After that i dabbled in Calisthenics with the old Bas Rutten Workout Tapes, Ross Enamait's Never Gymless and then Convict Conditioning. Had a good streak with Kettlebells following the Program minimum of Pavel Tsatsoulines DVD/Book then tried really hard to make GymnasticBodies work for me (spectacular fail).
I gained 8kg of pure fat while my wife was pregnant with our firstborn and horrifiedly signed up for Precision Nutrition Coaching in the follow-Up. Successfully lost the kilos and got into decent shape, although without any barbell work (mainly Kettlebell + Dumbbells).
We moved to a house and i established a home gym (finally!) where i wanted to start Barbell Training. Therefore i did a coaching session with a Starting Strength Coach for the main lifts and afterwards dabbled with Starting Strength and the Leangains Method (Reverse Pyramid Training).
One of my main training problems has always been the challenge of combining Strength and Conditioning with Martial Arts.
Of course the shortage of free time that comes with a young family and my Job (I am on call 5-7 days a month with at least 1 Week-end) does not help..
I found lifting + martial arts classes especially tough.
After reading through TB 1 and 2 i have decided to do Base Building first. Over the last 4-5 months i have been using Morpheus (Joel Jamiesons HRV monitoring tool and my RHR has crept up to the middle - upper 60s. Therefore i think i have to get that in order first.
Cheers,
Alex

Hello. Thank you for accepting my account.
I'm 33 and live in Poland and serve as LE. I always wanted to go to SOF military or CT unit. Got passed tests but then on selection got injured badly and had to take break. After break i changed lifestyle because of family and 2 Young boys. 1 year ago started preparing again for selection but they told me Im to Old now.
Actually I work in crime Police and i do observation. My goals changed to be healthy, fit and look strong. I Just ordered MASS PROTOCOL and cant wait for it. and must say that TB 2 and 3 was the best S&C books I've ever had.

Hey all, i'm Randy. Marine Corps vet (1997-2005). Currently a network engineer for the USDA riding a desk 40 hours a week. I've done 12 cycles of 5/3/1 but got very bored with it. I have recently read through TB and TB2. I start he 8 week base building on Monday the 28th. I am looking forward to doing the barbell training I am use to with 5/3/1 but also mixing all the SE/HIC/E training my routine. Looking forward to the journey with everyone.

Hello.
My name is Stefan, I'm 30 years old, I have a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy, but I'm currently attending the Royal Danish Military Academy as an officer's cadet. I'm finishing the academy in December this year and will then go to the Danish Artillery Regiment for my specialisation and work there.
I used to do Team-gymnastics when I was younger but switched to general physical training back in 2012. I did a bit of Stronglift 5x5 for about a year, with 3-4 days of running (HIC, HIIT, LSD) but got an overuse injury due to muscle imbalances.
The past 3 years or so, I have been program hopping (mainly Military Athlete/Mountain Tactical Institute programs), tried creating my own, just followed the physical training at the Army NCO school, but haven't found that ONE program that fit me just as well as the one I did back in 2012. I've run into a lot of sprained ankles and a bit of low back pain from time to time.
Now I've read TB1&2 a couple of times and have come to the conclusion that this program and mindset is very similar to the one I did back in the beginning, which is perfect for me. My motivation is that I want to be an officer that my men can look up to in every way, not just professionally, but also physically.
I started my base building block today with a KB/BW cluster and it totally kicked my arse - and I absolutely loved it!!! Looking forward to tomorrow's run
Sorry about the long post

I started an account a while back, but kind of forgot about it. I finished college and an now in the Army. My goals are still the same, I want to go SF. I’m giving myself a year to train up for this and my intentions are I’ll post my daily workout on the workout log starting on Monday.
