An Interesting HIC Drill

Post by J-Madd »

I haven't tried this yet, but it was the conditioning test for my son's high school soccer team. You are going to do 90yd sprints x 20. Sprints 1-10 have to be under 25 seconds, and you do them on the minute (so you sprint no more than 25 sec and then rest for no more than 35 seconds). For sprints 11-20, each rep has to get a second faster. So for #11, you need to get 90yd/24 sec (rest 36 sec), #12 90yd/23 sec (rest 37 sec), #13 90yd/22 sec (rest 38 sec) . . . #20 90yd/15 sec. As soon as you missed a time, you were out of the drill. (Bad news!)

Maybe some of you speed demons could compress the run times a bit. This was just a baseline fitness test as a first hurdle to making the cut for the varsity team, so a lot of you guys might find you need faster times for a challenge. A lot of kids got weeded out by this test, and I'm going to try it as above first.

Sounds like the beep test, but with rest and much longer intervals.
