Ok To Test After 2 Days?

Post by Gordion »

Hello all,

Quick question, is it okay to retest after 2 days off or should I give it some more time?

Others may be of a different opinion but I'd say give it a third day off, retest on day 4.

I'm with the Good Doctor here. I can't imagine that some day you will regret taking the extra day of rest before testing, but you might well regret not doing it.

Thanks everyone, I gave it the extra day and tested on the evening of day 4.

It went really well! Thnx for asking...:

Back Squat 205 to 240
Bench Press 175 to 185
Pull-Ups 7 to 11
Deadlift 225 to 245

My deadlift seems to be lagging a little...from what I understand it should progress faster than the squat?

Great progress! My own experience is actually that the DL progresses more stubbornly than the SQ. I'm a natural squat in terms of my build, and I do very well on high frequency SQing. None of that is the case for me regarding the DL. This all probably comes to do idiosyncratic factors. In any event, 20lbs improvement on the DL is nothing to sneeze at!

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Someone on another forum was telling me it was abnormal to have the DL lag behind the squat!

Thanks Doc. I used Operator template for 12 weeks. Before Operator I was using 5x5 and hit the wall with everything but my squat. For my last three weeks on 5x5 I struggled to break 175 and 225 on my bench and DL respectively, but they wouldn't budge. For the pull-ups, probably newbie gains. I've never really trained them as part of a proper program before.
