Today's Training
GMB Rings 1
Phase 3
Week 10 session 3

Warmup

1. 3x3
2a. 2x3
2b.2x5 1 leg half pistol

Cooldown

Good training session today. I had to cut 1 set of the second series due to fatigue. I also failed 1 movement in the final set of the 1st movement. It went to a harder progression and I had only been using the easy one in the build up phase.

GMB Rings 1
Phase 3
Week 11 session 3

Warmup

1. 3x5
2. 3x3

1 leg half pistol 3x5 ea side

Cooldown

I am still plugging away at the Rings 1 training and trying to stick it out. It's a great general fitness program, I am just ready to swap back to TB and focus on some conditioning. I have 10 sessions left to get through and then I need to decide whether to base build or go straight back into TB black. My last cycle was a base build but I didn't really get the run volume I wanted from it and I am tempted to revisit it again.

I am tossing up three options:
1. Simple/Sinister Base build + Fighter Pullups. One of my most successful base build from the past, but light on total SE volume.

2.Traditional Base build from TB Conditioning. I will do this to the letter with same reps as in the book. 4-5 Exercises, but this is basically my most recent cluster.

3. Skip base build and do TB OP I/A Black. I will use longer intervals to cover of on some run volume.

Never done #1 but always wanted to do it. Actually, your log way back made me want it:)

Your #3 is basically BB with strength oriented focus. I did it last year and I consider it the best block I’ve ever done. A lot of fun and felt just right.

I have just started traditional BB variation and it does feel right. It is very pleasant to get away from lifting every other year or so..

I would go for #3 if I was in your sneakers :D but any option will do a lot of goods..

Cheers.

I am thinking number 3 as of the moment. I really miss heavy strength work and I have been doing nothing but body weight ring work, sporadic runs and BJJ for over 3 months now. I think I might do a really conservative OP I/A and just build up the run volume over an extended period.

I might just start easy and do a run/walk program to work on my form. I can run for an hour easy but have some mobility and muscular tightness issues I might take my time to fix. I am looking at applying for a specialist group next year and have had to miss applying this year as I have neglected my running for most of 2018.

Cheers mate for the feedback.

Today's Training
GMB Rings 1
Phase 3
Week 11 session 5

Warmup

1. 3x3
2. 3x3

30 min LSS run

Cooldown

I am coming down to the final 3 weeks weeks of the program. I am considering skipping next week and going to phase 4. Phase 4 involves a single long routine on the rings with the exercises I have been using in phase 3. Instead of 2 sets of different exercises it will be 1 set completed continuously.

Nice easy LSS run to asses where I am. I definitely think a base build is needed. I just need to decide whether its strength based or Endurance based for my other exercises.

Today's Training

BJJ open mat
40+ min rolling with the occasional 5 min talk break in between.

Great open mat rolling with one of my favourite training partners. He is stronger and much better than me but was nice and gentle on the subs. I tried to scramble out and make him atleast work a little hard for the 30+ taps he got/ :D
