TB is my first program experience with potentiation weeks, and I noticed this phenomenon.
Every so often (maybe one set per workout), I set up and prepare to lift. Just a split second before the lift, as I tense my entire body, I will feel that "perfect setup".
I don't know how to describe it, much less replicate it. Somehow, all the limbs, bones and muscles are just in the right position and all the planets align for that perfect set.
In that split second I just know that set will be blessed by Brodin. Lo and behold, every rep in that set will feel effortless and lighter, while lockout will be effortless and with a whip-like snap.
Have any of you experienced this before? I've recorded myself during one of these "perfect setups" and I can't see what's so different. I'd just know that set will be perfect, but can't explain why.
I only noticed it happen on the max weeks.
Any insight or sharing from anyone else?
Perfect setups?
Re: Perfect setups?
I bet it is a combination of nutrition, sleep, recovery state, and your life stress at the given moment. Your mind is playing you by representing the perfect setup. There is nothing "perfect" in feeling good. It's natural in a way...
It is all in our head. Inside and out. And.. I don't mind that. And.. it is as tactical as it can be
It's my head after all.

Yes! I totally notice this during 90% weeks on Operator. I put it down to the greasing the groove effect and frequency. It feels totally effortless, and super-crisp. Whereas during the 70-75% weeks I tend to feel a little less "in the groove" especially when I'm starting a new block with heavier weights. By beginning of 90% weeks it all shakes out and the weight's completely under control.Blackmetalbunny wrote:TB is my first program experience with potentiation weeks, and I noticed this phenomenon.

I'm curious if this happens with Zulu or Fighter, or if it's just an Operator thing.
Re: Perfect setups?
Yep. I get this with Operator. Didn't happen during my short trial with Fighter though.

Yeah, it's the same thing, I get that "effortless set" feeling. I'm not sure what it is, but it just doesn't seem to be a particularly common phenomenon among the others.Rick Deckard wrote:It feels totally effortless, and super-crisp. Yep, I'm working on Operator too.TangoZero wrote:Yep. I get this with Operator. Didn't happen during my short trial with Fighter though.
Are you guys working heavy set numbers for the first week? I'm working between 6 to 8 sets for the 70%/75% weeks.
Re: Perfect setups?
These days I go with 4 sets on average pretty much every session. Once in a while I'll go up to 5. Except for DL....I stick to 3 sets or less and never go over 3 reps regardless of %rm.
