- "The Relaxation Response" by Herbert Benson - done.
- "Mindfulness in plain English" by Henepola Gunaratana - reading now.

Next on the list:
- "Transcendence: Healing and Transformation Through Transcendental Meditation" by Norman E Rosenthal
- "Buddha in Blue Jeans" by Tai Sheridan.

I find these two are the best so far: "The Relaxation Response" and "Mindfulness in plain English". "Mindfulness.." is brilliant. Friend of mine has recommended Eight Mindful Steps to Happiness by the same author. It is an introduction to the philosophy that underlies the first book. It places the practice in a religious/philosophical context and smooths out the rough edges according to him.

I didn't like "Transcendence: Healing and Transformation Through Transcendental Meditation".. I like The Beatles, but it feels like recruitment into membership club.. Just not my cup of tea..

I am reading "Mind Illuminated" by Culadasa now.

Has anyone had the chance to read the book from Rob Mcdonald at gym jones yet? I think it's called "The Maximus Body"

I almost bought one of the expensive subscriptions a couple of years ago, but I kinda like to read those types of books every now and then.
It;s not available in australia and I am not that keen to pay to have it posted here after what I paid for "The SUpple Leopard"... I didn't even finish that book and didn't finds anything that ground breaking in it.

Might I recommend One Bullet Away when you finish Making the Corps. It's a great read, better than Generation Kill in my opinion. It covers the same group of Recon Marines in Iraq.

Thats a great book. I've read (most of it) awhile back. I wouldn't mind re-starting and re-reading it, again. Nate Fick is an interesting guy.

books on stoicism & self improvement are my go tos

meditations by marcus aurelius
48 laws of power
letters of a stoic
power of habit
miracle morning

I feel like a lot of info about fitness/nutrition can be easily condensed down and reading more books than necessary on it yields diminishing returns

I just picked up 48 Laws of Power and I've had Seneca which I go to bit by bit. Just picked up the Illiad and Dante's Inferno.

For the Stoic fans, if you don't already have it, "A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy" by William Irvine should definitely be on your list. "The Daily Stoic" by Ryan Holiday is also great - I read it right after my Bible in the morning and it gives me a good approach to tackle the day.

Currently reading the complete Sherlock Holmes collection (thanks, Kindle) when on the move and at night digging into an old favorite of mine, "Making Men" by Chuck Holton (a great book on Christian masculinity).
