Admittedly Tym87, I just sort of fell into LE. I was at an odd point in my life where I could have either gone active duty again or take a risky but high paying job when a friend of mine (at the time he was a sergeant with Las Vegas Metro, fell out of touch with him since) pushed me to look into it. I was skeptical at first (as a kid, I was more the type to run from a police officer than want to be a police officer) but it met everything I wanted out of life and I haven't looked back since. It's definitely a bad time to be a police officer though. Even guys with decades on the job can't remember the last time the LE community as a whole was this disliked - at least here in the States. But that's a whole different discussion...
Grouchy, that's what I hope happens, meeting the life goals that I have which match and mirror what law enforcement could provide. Helping/Protecting others and making a difference in the community. It sucks that the public opinion is where it is at but there are a ton of supporters out there for you all (myself included) still.

The job is good. The politics are a drag. If you come in with a 'mission before self' mindset it can be frustrating at times.
Thanks KB, politics are a drag in general.
