Bicycle Commute
Do you think a 14 mile commute by bike (14 each way, 28 rt) would interfere much with a black protocol? I would imagine over time you would adapt to it aerobically, but at what cost to recovery? Probably thinking too much about this.

It remains me one of my best summers several years ago. I didn't have a car and I had to commute 40ml rt to work (AM) and 20 ml rt to college (PM). Only other training was 30min Dips/Chins/Roll-outs before bed routine and I had to really push myself to do so.
I was in great shape. Lean and mean and feeling awesome.

Not enough for it to cause enough of an issue to worry about unless you are a professional athlete.
If you aren't peaking for high level competition it's not a big deal to add things like this as you body will adapt in time.
Give it a crack and adjust volume in other places as needed until you can maintain that volume.

I wouldn't worry at all about this. It will keep your e-box checked, and you'll definitely adapt. Not a problem at all. TB's supposed to fit around "real life" and unit activity. There might be a little pain period while you adjust, but I think you'll only see benefits in the long run.

If it eats up too much of my time, which it should only increase my commute by 30 or so minutes, I'll just call it an E day and not make it permanent. It will save my car 150 miles a week though if I stick to it.

So I've experimented and found that the ride itself, while long isn't that bad. My legs feel dead after but only for a couple hours and then it's fine. The worst part are the drivers. Felt like frogger at some points.
