SE on E days for sedentary person
SE on E days for sedentary person
Hello all. I am a civilian that isn't required to PT for one's job. I work a desk job and live a primarily sedentary life style. I'm not overweight, so I was wondering if I can just do SE on the E days as well? Like do I have to strictly adhere to E and not do any SE work? This is for "Block I" or base building by the way.

I wouldn't recommend it. Although they play well together, SE and E are pretty far from each other on the fitness spectrum. They serve very different purposes.
But at the end of the day, you do you booboo. Nobody is holding a gun to your head.

If you are just starting out, and have not been doing any running or weight training, Base Building is going to kick your ass if you do it right.
I'd follow the program as-is, and maybe even take a workout or two off once in a while if you are having trouble recovering and are too sore.
I'm currently in my second cycle of Base Building (did one last year this time). I've kept up with Operator and lots of sports since then, but have not done much SE training or running since October. (I followed Black/Op pretty well from June through October.) My calves are currently quite pissed off at me; evidently, running taxes them more than the other stuff I do during the winter. And maybe it's the front squats that I sub for back squats during base.

Re: SE on E days for sedentary person
PS if you really have been mostly sedentary lately, you might want to ease into this.
Work your running or other E up to the point that you can run for 30 minutes 3 times a week without issues. Start lifting slowly. Maybe start base after a month or more of that.
There are articles on the forum about starting from scratch for a de-trained person, you could check them out.

Hey thanks, I found this. I might as well do the "Pre-Base Building" to be on the safe side. It is only 6 weeks.WallBilly wrote:PS if you really have been mostly sedentary lately, you might want to ease into this.

Good call.
As you may have gathered, the people who hang out on this Board regularly plan to do this until they cart us off to the morgue.
With that time horizon, 6 weeks makes no difference whatsoever. It's better to ease into it than to crash and burn immediately, or hurt yourself.
Good luck!

Excellent advice. Why you'd want to change the program before you've even started it is beyond me.WallBilly wrote:If you are just starting out, and have not been doing any running or weight training, Base Building is going to kick your ass if you do it right.

If you do want to combine SE and E, a good way to do that would be to use Fun-runs for some of your E sessions.
