Re: Squat Technique
Full squats only helped my knees.
Re: Squat Technique
I'm going to pile on here. I find I'm in my best orthopedic shape (less/no joint pain, good mobility, back in good order) when I have frequent squats in my mix. As long as I don't get stupid with the weight, I have never had trouble with the squat and it really seems to make everything go better.

Squatting below parallel is magic healer for my left hip. As much as it was wrecked by Sumo DL... It is cured by squat. Just my 2C from personal experience.J-Madd wrote:I'm going to pile on here. I hate to repeat stuff and start to feel like a preacher.J-Madd wrote:I'm going to pile on here. But, this is important.
I'm 54. "Lifted" on and off my entire life, perhaps with marginal form.
3 years ago, I started Rip's starting strength. A year ago, I moved to TB.
Both emphasize the big lifts.
3 years ago, I had the usual crap that 51 year old guys face. A bit of knee pain, some back pain, sore hips. I was thinking I should quit playing hockey to save my hips.
After I started doing squats with good form, my knee pain, hip pain, and back pain completely disappeared.
It's freaking magic.
I'm not nearly as strong as some of the studs on this board, but hey, it's all good.
Those parallel back squats . . . Trust me.
