But you can injure yourself with Bulgarians as well especially if it gets heavy. Otherwise it’s great exercise. However my favorite is reverse lunges with BB in front squat position. It gives you stable position with heavy loads. Just my 2c.
My hip mobility is not great so while I work on it I'm doing reverse lunges too.....those things are bastards
It's the one think I actually like to do on the Smith Machine, once one gets front foot position dialled in it's great. I've got some muscular imbalances in my left hip, so this 'single leg' work should help a lot.
I've had good success with bulgarian split squats, but I find the reverse lunges really hit my glutes, even more so than the BSS
