Re: Mass protocol for an ole timer
Hi Everyone, Hope you are all well. Just a question in regards to teh Mass protocl in the first Book. It says to do 4 sets of the given exercises. Would there be any issues if I only did 3 sets per exercise? Being 49 years of age, I just can't seem to hit that fourth set and just get fatiqued. Any ...

Re: Operator/Black Deadlift Powerclean mix
I know I’m probably overthinking it a bit but what do you think of doing one DL session a week and adding power cleans at least one day? I like to have at least two pull days in the week and have wanted to add PCs to my regimen for years. Im assuming cleans are less taxing than DLs due to lower wei...

Re: Operator/Black Deadlift Powerclean mix
Dwight, doing DLs 2x/wk is rather ambitious unless you are at a beginner strength level. Consider doing DLs just 1x/wk and probably limit the SQ for that day.

Re: Mass Protocol Question
Thank you. That’s helpful. One other question, probably more of an observation. It seems counterintuitive that both %1RM and #reps increase simultaneously during the week. Generally, when the %1RM is increased, #reps are decreased. BB appears to be the opposite in that weight and reps are increased...

Re: Mass Protocol Question
I have a question about the BB phase. During week 1 the reps progress from 10 to 30 and %1RM from 15% to 25%. The same for weeks 2 & 3. My question is this. Do I use the same %1RM weight during those 3 weeks? At what point do I increase the weight that I’m basing the percentages on? I read thro...

Re: Mass Protocol Base Building Question
Nah, let it be easy, that is by design. Remind yourself that there are not that many Day 1 workouts left, and even if your change could make things better, the effect would be trivial overall.

Re: Over 50’s Club
Something very common in 50+ yo people is disrupted sleep. See e.g. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/004018.htm You can find a lot more if you want to read about it. The worst of it for me was waking up very early - no real way to go back to sleep before it was time to get up for work. What can ...
