Re: NathanC77 New Training Log

As usual I've been horrible at keeping up with this log, but I have been relatively consistent with basebuilding. I've just about completed the first 5 weeks(3 LSS, 2 bodyweight exercise days per week). I have one more LSS to finish out week 5, which I'll probably do tomorrow. A couple changes: -Abo...

Re: NathanC77 New Training Log

Basebuilding started for me last Saturday, 9/24/17. I'm using a Garmin Vivoactive HR for distances, times, and HRs, so it may be 100% accurate, but hopefully it'll be consistent 9/24 Saturday: 5 mile hike on the Appalachian trail in 3 hours, with about a ten pound backpack. Knee was still weird, so ...

NathanC77 New Training Log

I've posted here sporadically in the past, but it's been a while. I started BJJ last spring, cancelled my old gym membership to pay for that, and have been doing various kettlebell and bodyweight workouts at home, along with mostly LSS running off and on. I also broke my hand and took a couple month...

Re: NathanC TB log

Pretty inauspicious start to this block. I started getting weird hip pain on my squats, and basically played around with stance and form every set, but nothing really helped. Then after that, all the benches at the gym were taken for all of my session. I could have worked in with someone, but I deci...

Re: Hill Sprint Progression

I've always started with ~5 hills, 15-30 seconds long, and tried to add another hill every session until I get to 10. I've honestly never paid much attention to rest intervals on longer hills(30 seconds +). I find as I just do them consistently, my RIs naturally decrease. Certainly you could work on...

Re: 10% Happier

Agreed, this was one of the books that really got me meditating regularly. He gives you a good overview of a lot of the bigger figures in mediation, and the good and bad aspects of a few of them. Check out his podcast as well, he interviews meditation experts as well as public figures who happen to ...

Re: Squat technique

This is timely, as I've been trying to correct my overall duckfooted-ness in every day life, and realizing I probably need to work on it in my squat as well. How did you guys make the switch? Gradually bringing the toes in, or all at once? Any articles or videos on the subject you'd recommend?

Re: NathanC TB log

Thanks Bark I'm excited to start it. Right now I'm 28, 5'11", 177 pounds, RHR=57. Last week I benched 165x2(that was weirdly low for me, I was benched about 10 pounds more than that for a double a couple weeks ago, but I guess more conservative numbers are better anyway for basebuilding) and sq...

Re: NathanC TB log

So, looking back on this log, I haven't posted since October. Since then, I started a winter basebuilding block in December or so, but had to cut it short due to some low grade chronic knee pain. Nothing too bad, but it was pretty constant and, given that I don't depend on this stuff to make a livin...
