Re: Lennart's log (critique encouraged)
That last guy was a monster. He outweighed me by 35 kg (77 lbs) and used to do powerlifting (DL 260 kg/ 573 lbs). My teammate tapped to his straight ankle lock before it was tight, just out of fear. It was a great experience, and I'm sure I won't make the same mistakes again. After the first fight ...

Re: Lennart's log (critique encouraged)
I went and competed in ADCC this weekend and (spoiler) lost my first fight in the -83kg class. Then in the open heavy I won my first fight and lost the second. I'm not going to be in Denver, but I have an ADCC competition in Norway on the same date. Break a leg!

Re: Lennart's log (critique encouraged)
Well, that experiment was a failure. In the time passed I have begun training thai boxing after which total training volume became too much for me so I dropped out of strength and conditioning. Looking for a change of pace I tried the grappling classes at the muay thai gym and just sort of fell in l...

Re: Trap Bar DL
After watching a lot of footage of high level (esp. mma) athletes training, it seems like the TBDL is more popular with this group than a conventional bar.

Re: What do you add after your MS cluster, and why?
I usually tack some specificity or prehab on the end of my general strength work. Hamstring curls (hamstrings are useful af), hammer curls (prevent tears when deadlifting), calf raises (problem area for me), landmine presses (specificity for boxing), band back extensions (weak point in DL), scapular...

Re: Overhead press with Football bar?
I think that you would get a lot more carryover to weightlifting if you press from the rack position with a standard olympic bar. As for neutral grip, I haven't tried it, but unless you have a shoulder injury I don't think it's necessary.

Re: Lennart's log (critique encouraged)
I have officially dropped out of base building again. I kept spending up to 3 hours in the gym for some reason, maybe the long RI's between my sets of partials add up, I honestly have no idea. I had to prioritize and to me, it's pretty much a no brainer that strength is my top priority. Here's what ...

Re: Lennart's log (critique encouraged)
A lot of time has passed and I have been forgetting to update this thread. A lot of work, family stuff, and foci other than training. I'm back though. I have decided that since I haven't trained seriously with a noob-friendly LP program now is the time for that. At the same time I'm hitting Grouchy'...

Re: Blood pressure meds
Hypertension needs to be treated, the earlier the better. You'll probably get beta blockers, which will lower your heart rate, or ACE inhibitors which basically makes you reuptake less fluid.
