Re: Ageless Athlete Discussion Thread
I'm pleased to see the positive comments regarding walking. I'm an old runner, but a serious health issue plus the meds the good doctor put me on has led me to focus on walking. It's no joke trying to improve pace! Of course, those looking for more intensity can add weight (ruck) and/or hills.

Strength training for college cross country
My daughter is about to enter college where she will be running cross country (fall) and track (winter and spring). This past year (HS senior season) she incorporated strength training on her own and I believe it made her a much stronger runner and kept her injury-free while her times improved. She ...

Re: How to increase chin up numbers?
I greatly appreciate all of the helpful replies. For now, I plan to continue to do ladders 3x/week with the goal to get up to 3 sets of 5. Once there, I will add weight maybe the last session of the week. I also think that doing a low number of chins with good form on off days could be beneficial. N...

Re: How to increase chin up numbers?
Turns out I did have a RI of around 2 minutes, but it wasn't intentional! I did my first ladder before the first main lift, then prepared the bar for the lift. Likewise, I did ladders in between the main lifts and after the second. Preparing or putting away the bar gave me a short break each time. T...

Re: How to increase chin up numbers?
Thanks for the replies.
During today's workout I did 3 x 2 chin ladders. I interspersed them throughout the main lifts. Felt good.

How to increase chin up numbers?
I'm wondering how best to increase my chin ups while following the TB approach. Not too long ago I followed the Fighter pull up program and was able to 5 chins before one of my elbows developed a bit of pain. After a break, I'm back at it, but can only do 3 chins. I'd like to do weighted chins, but ...

Re: OldManAsh stays accountable
After a lifetime of massive meat consumption, I went vegan for ethical reasons 5 years ago. From a health standpoint, other than quitting smoking, it's the single best thing I've ever done for myself. My only regret is not having done it sooner. I second Barkadion's sentiment of being interested in...

Re: Immune system question
Well, being a new dad might be having an impact! Looking back, I can see how my sleep/diet/stress took a hit during that time. I don't know about the multivitamin you listed. I take "Garden of Life Multivitamin for Men". I'm a researcher by trade, so I understand and accept the difficulty ...

Re: Immune system question
How are you doing in the following non-supplement areas which affect the immune system? Diet Stress Sleep Exercise - as in over-exercising I do take a good multi-vitamin, a probiotic, vitamin D, and CoQ10. Since the immune system is a "system", it's difficult to say with confidence that an...
