Re: Running operator, missing reps on day 3 of lifts
Bear, I just PM'ed you the current Operator details. Didn't want to post them in the wild. I have been working off TB2 all this time. I never caught the different rep schedule for week 5 when I read it. Makes sense why the 5x5 @ 85% was usually the sticking point. I always thought it should be 3-5/...

Re: Running operator, missing reps on day 3 of lifts
Sleep is a wildcard because I work for a large city FD. 3-5 after midnight on a shift is more the norm than the exception. I am confused, because in TB2 it has week 5 table states 3 x 5/85%. Is it different in TB3? I have read it, but I don't own that version of the book. The only 3 rep is the 90% w...

Running operator, missing reps on day 3 of lifts
I have run the same bench numbers for the past few cycles on TB operator (90% TM). Last cycle all 3 TM stayed the same. This cycle the squat and rows weight was added. For instance, I am on my 85% week. I have do a 5 x 5 with 225lbs. I can hit the reps on Monday, usually struggle a bit on the 2nd da...

Re: After 40 club
I know it is personal preference, but what age do most start to go to the Old warhorse protocol and the 80% TM?

Re: Switching templates mid-cycle.
Things that I learned doing operator. Get sleep, track my protein so I get enough. Its alright to do a 3x5 or a 4 x 5 day if I got destroyed at work the night before. Limit my accessory lifts when on lifting days. It adds up and diminishes my main goal. 90% TM keeps me from killing myself and gettin...

Re: Experience with DL 3x week with OP I/A
FWIW, I do DL 2-3x a week for the past 6 months. I replace the DL with a front squat at work (no access to hex bar).
Always use a trap bar when I dead lift and only do a 3x5 (all other exercises 5x5+). My max is only in the low 400's so maybe that makes it easier.

Re: TB Op and 5/3/1
Can I ask what your lifts and bodyweight are mate? I can tell you right now that 5x5 at 85% of your 1RM is absolutely brutal and difficult to recover from when you are hitting 2x BW +in your lifts. If you want to add sets over 5 look into OP I/A. In my opinion it's the best program from the Tactica...

Re: TB Op and 5/3/1
I am just curious about 5/3/1 and the pros and cons. Thanks for the opinions, they confirm kinda what I was thinking/feeling. 5/3/1 would have been great in my 20's, but in my 40's I am not really willing to take the pounding of the joints and the time commitment in the gym. I am still reading the 5...

TB Op and 5/3/1
I have officially been running TB operator for 1 year. I have increased my strength and added some hard earned muscle over that time. I am happy with the results and plan to run it for another 6 months to a year. After that, I think I would like to mix it up a bit and try something else for a year o...

Re: Strength Gains
Great job! I like to hear these stories. Plenty of people around the firehouse that don't want to lift heavy anymore because they are "too old". Not to threadjack, but what is the normal strength gains per month on bench or squats? I know nutrition, sleep etc will have an effect. Is about ...
