Re: Belt squats
I love belt squats. I don't use them as a main lift but rather as an accessory lift for building my legs. They are great for that. Could you use them as a main lift? Yes, but you would probably want to pair them with a heavy compound lift like Deadlift, Good Morning, etc... to stress the whole body ...

Re: Clusters without Squats
Over the past year I have run several no squat clusters. I have done Trap Bar DL, OHP, Pendlay rows cluster; High Pulls, OHP, Trap Bar DL cluster; and High Pulls, Trap Bar DL, and Pendlay Rows cluster. That last one was because I had a serious shoulder injury that I needed to let heal. I have enjoye...

Re: Coming back
You will be fine. You will still make progress, it will just take a little longer to get there. If you have problems with recovery due to poor sleep patterns, stress, bad nutrition, etc.. then the extra time off will help you recover and you will probably feel a bit better. That has been my experien...

Re: First block progress and question
A lot of guys mix OHP and bench and most seem to like it. It gives you some variety. OHP is usually a pretty slow progress lift, compared to the bench or squat, so your cycles may have to be a bit longer. Give it a shot and see what happens.

Re: The New Big 3 for Non-Powerlifters
I'm not a powerlifter so I don't feel the need to squat all year round. I do squat but I alternate my clusters between deadlift and squat. My next cluster will be SSB squats, OHP, and neutral grip pullups. I have to switch up my exercises every 2 - 3 cycles or I get injured or bored, usually both. I...

Re: The New Big 3 for Non-Powerlifters
I think that cluster is what a lot of us gradually transition to as we get older. I'm not a powerlifter so I don't have to bench press or deadlift with a straight bar anymore if I don't want to, and I often don't. My current cluster is TBDL (low handle), OHP, and Pendlay Rows. I finish that off with...

Re: Kettlebells for MS
You're not going to completely replace a barbell with kettlebells for max strength. You just can't load kettlebells like a barbell. You can still get strong with kettlebells though. The exercises Barkadion listed are great. I would also add double KB front squats and Turkish get ups if you can do th...

Re: Grey Man without Bench
You could use floor press instead of bench if you still want a horizontal press movement, or you could just do OHP every session. I find that full ROM bench press kills my shoulder but partial ROM lifts, like floor press or board press, are tolerable. I've also had success using barbell rows instead...

Re: Alternative to pistol squats
You could make a sled out of a tire and some rope and drag it forward and backward. You could do lunges, goblet squats and jumps with your kb and weight vest. Bulgarian split squats with the weight vest and kettlebell will work your legs fairly well. Kettlebell swings are great but your kettlebell i...

Re: Any suggestions for elbow pain?
It depends on where your pain is. Mine was in the inner portion of my elbow, I believe it's called medial epicondylitis. I got rid of my elbow pain by strengthening the muscles in my forearm. I used Ironmind Expand your Hands bands. They are rubber bands that you wrap around your fingers and try to ...
