Recovering right now in a hammock under a tarp, listening to the rain, and stuffed after a noght of grilling and eating over a fire. Life could be worse

First time BJJ today. It was really fun, humiliating and addictive! Will be going back!

hope you had fun at bjj! the learning curve can be a bit steep at first but stay the course and you will improve.
It ain't what you don’t know that gets you into trouble.
It's what you know for sure that just ain’t so.

It’s really fun! Signed up for a year today! But yes, steep learning curve…..

Today I got paired up with a 16 year old boy, 165-170 cm tall, 70-75 kg. I’m a 180 cm tall, 90 kg police officer, I have been in the police for 8 years, and been in some challenging situations before, but here comes this 16 year old and tosses me around like a rag doll. That was a new experience….. afterwards, they told me his father was a wrestler, and that after been trained by his fatger from early on he started with bjj when he was 12 and is already competing, and winning, against much older people. That made it feel just a bit better, bit not by much

Morning: MS, 75%
1: Trap bar deadlift
2: Bench
3: WPU
3x5

Started with bulgarian split squats, but it was pinful in the groin, possibly a pull. Switched to TBDL, started light, I haven’t done deadlifts or heavy squats since 2012/2013

Evening: BJJ, third time
2 hours. During sparring I tried to focus on doing the techniques we practiced earlier in the training, without relying to much on my weight/strength advantage. I’m not as tired as I was last time, and I got in a nogi Ezekiel choke from side mount on a white belt who has been training for over a year. I also got a solid Americana on the same.

Later, when sparring with a purple belt, I managed to keep him away, get out from his guard and into a side mount. From there I didn’t manage anything, and ended up back in his guard, but I’m happy with keeping him off me, without getting completely gassed out in the prosess! Fun!!
