Have you guys used weighted dips for your clusters? What's your experience? Pro/Cons?
I know all the theory behind it and possible shoulder issues that are related to that. Just interested in your real life experience and programming for TB.
I am tempted to include it into my next OP block. One of the reasons is that it will let me to super-set all 3 movements with allowed RI. My basement setup has its limits.

Pros:
1. You look cool when doing them with 100+ lbs extra.
2. You can lift more weight on weighted dips than on BP (usually, factoring in the person's body weight).
3. Its actually pretty good for building Chest, Shoulders and Triceps.
4. Added benefit of training some stabiliser muscles compared to BP.
Cons:
1. May or may not wreck your shoulders.
Just my 2 cents.

Bark, I love dips but prefer using them for SE phases in my training. I find the amount of weight (rather the lack of weight) limiting when compared to bench or OHP if used for max-strength clusters.Barkadion wrote:Have you guys used weighted dips for your clusters? Personally I like bodyweight dips better as they are about as functional as you can get, especially if you've ever gone rock climbing on any kind of slab. But since it's just bodyweight I just use them for HIC

A tidbit about weighted dips: Once you approach 50% bw on rings they actually get easier than on bars, according to Overcoming Gravity.

Do you do WPUs? I am curious why WD are treated differently than WPUs..

No experience using them in my cluster, but I've always wanted to add them in. Might try Zulu on my next block and if so I will add them. WPU + WD + Lower body movement has a nice kind of symmetry to it if running Operator.
