I wonder how long it will be before mainstream medical practitioners start changing their tune and admit that Ancel Keyes screwed the whole world over a few decades.

Not surprising. The author mentions a "lack of mechanistic explanation" which is not true. We know exactly why eggs do not raise cholesterol. There are a couple of reasons. #1 most of the cholesterol is esterified and your body cannot absorb cholesterol esters. #2 Your body tightly regulates how much cholesterol it absorbs, so it will not increase blood cholesterol from ingested cholesterol.
If you really want to increase cholesterol and triglycerides, consume lots of high fructose corn syrup. The liver has really high affinity fructose receptors, so it takes up most of the ingested fructose. If liver carbohydrate stores ore full, the liver's only recourse is to convert the fructose to triglycerides and transport it out via cholesterol carrying lipoproteins. In other words, your cholesterol goes up. This also drives up insulin resistance and can cause "fatty liver." All of which are deadly. We should have been worried more about high fructose corn syrup than eggs for the last 25 years, but we heard more about fat and cholesterol.
Personally on at least 4 whole eggs per day, my total cholesterol is less than 115.
The scientists are already there on this knowledge, but it is going to take a bit longer to turn the doctors, and some old school dietitians.
