OHP is so underrated

Post by cws1992 »

My shoulders and triceps have never looked better in my life. Dropped bench because of shoulder impingement issues and subbed in OHP for the past couple months and I can see a huge difference. Running Mass protocol fighter and seeing awesome gains.

I totally agree with you...due to job and life circumstances, now I have only a barbell available, so DL, OHP and WCU are always in my clusters...

I feel OHP is really a total body lift: legs, abs, triceps, shoulders, upper chest and upper back...I feel all my body working when I lift something heavy overhead

I love it. I am a firefighter so it really works well with my schedule.

I only used the Press for the first 6 weeks, 3x / week. Now I'm Benching 2x and Pressing 1x. A lot more people should be Pressing instead of Benching, or at least mixing it up.

Pretty much, running a cluster of WCUs, Squats and alternating Bench/Press (2 Bench, 1 Press).

I also tweaked the rep ranges and use 3 sets of 5 on week 1, 4 sets of 3 on week 2 and 5 sets of 2 on week 3, going from 70%/80%/90% then restarting with +2.5% increases.

I also DL once a week, for singles only (5 sets, 4 sets and 3 sets, restart.) for the same % as the cluster.

A more visual display... should give you a good general idea.
