I'm not a music guy when lifting. I have a home gym and with the 2 minute rest period, I actually like to have a book on hand. After my set, I hit a 2-minute timer and then sit and read until the timer goes off.

When I do E sessions, I actually like podcasts. I tend to get more lost in a conversation than in music.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

No worries, mate. I train in my basement as well. I have tried audio-books but it threw me away completely. I just couldn't concentrate on the lifts and missed my RI. But reading... That is something I have never considered......... :)

Bands like the Dropkick Murphys, Street Dogs, Death Before Dishonor, House of Pain, Slaine, etc. Whatever keeps me going. I do think I should eventually not run with head phones in because whenever I go into an academy, that obviously won't be a choice. It does make the runs more enjoyable though. And granted I have always been motivated by music, too.
I have a friend who is reading poetry to himself while running. So, no headphones and he's memorized whole library!
