Re: Trap Bar DL
Calling it better is a reach. All of his reasonings can fall into the "it's easier" category. Like sumo vs conventional, it really just comes down to which you prefer. As long as you're deadlifting it's all good.

I always come back to this T-Nation article, Bark.

No one deadlift form is superior to others, or the end-all-and-be-all. It's simply a matter the objectives you're trying to achieve.

BMB, I like that article. Summarizes everything pretty darn well.Blackmetalbunny wrote:I always come back to this T-Nation article, Bark.

Thanks mikhou, I must admit I used to have this mentality that there are "better" or "superior" exercises (e.g. high bar vs low bar, conventional vs sumo). This was the exact article which set my head on straight. Select the exercises and programming for your objectives.mikhou wrote:BMB, I like that article. Summarizes everything pretty darn well.

Solid article Blackmetal. When an "expert" starts off his answer with "it depends" I pay attention. I'll take that over pages of mental masturbation on "this vs that" any day of the week.Blackmetalbunny wrote:I always come back to this T-Nation article, Bark.

Re: Trap Bar DL
After watching a lot of footage of high level (esp. mma) athletes training, it seems like the TBDL is more popular with this group than a conventional bar.
Re: Trap Bar DL
Did anyone ever try using the trap bar as a replacement for squats?
Re: Trap Bar DL
I'm doing that now. Finishing up a 3 month/block with Trap Bar DL subbed for squats.Chris G wrote:Did anyone ever try using the trap bar as a replacement for squats?

How do you feel they worked compared to squats? Just curious because I was thinking about dropping squats for a cycle.
